FILMING AT UCSI – ‘FORMULA CINTA’ DRAMA

This is a proud moment for the UCSI University family right now. A local series called ‘Formula Cinta’ produced by Golden Peacock Film Production Sdn Bhd, directed by Mr. Mohan had decided to conduct the shooting at the UCSI University’s campus. The filming was conducted for 3 amazing days.

As for the first day of the filming, the crew started up with the preparation of the set. The cast were rehearsing their lines and were neatly dressed. “Action!!!” and they quickly made way to their respective positions.

“This is a telemovie and it’s based on our own idea and not a novel. This is a creation supported by RTM and you will be able to watch it in the month of June,” said the production manager of Golden Peacock Film Production Sdn Bhd. When he was questioned about the synopsis of this telemovie, he answered by saying “This telemovie is called ‘Formula Cinta’.

This story evolves a girl who is more than interested in maths and she is known as the diva of the university. One day, a good looking, humble guy comes to enrol himself in the same university that she was in. This newly joined student was very humble that he didn’t even reveal his actual identity of being a professor’s son.

The story spices up when the diva of the university and the newly joined guy meet with each other in a competition. They exchange ideas and knowledge with one another” He also managed to explain the contrast of conflict and also a brief explanation about the location of this telemovie. He also mentioned that generally there was a sort of cliche in at least one element of any story but the speciality of ‘Formula Cinta’ is altogether a different kind of story.

We also managed to interview a few artists from the casting section. “I chose to be a part of this project because I like maths and this personality suits the girl in the story.

My favourite scene is when someone wants to be friends or wants to go on a date with me, they need to answer a few maths questions before I agree to know them or to go on a date with them,” said the main actress of this telemovie, Ms Nynaa Harizal. This 23-year-old young artist claims that her love for maths has also given her the courage to pursue her degree in Bachelor of Accounting and Finance.

“I started my career three years ago by acting in ads, Malay and Tamil serials and I was called to give a try to act in telemovies. That’s how I got the interest to act in telemovies,” said the young and beautiful air stewardess, Ms Geeta Devi.

Talking about Ms Geeta, she works as an air stewardess and currently is doing her ACCA. When we asked her about what sparks her in taking up this acting project, she pointed out that, “The story is awesome and it portrays me acting as a bad person and as well as a good person. I think that it will be a good opportunity for me.”

“We are welcoming new faces who have a flair for acting and smart on the inside as well as the outside,” said the production manager of the Golden Peacock Film Production Sdn Bhd.

In relation to his statement, it turned out to be true with Nur Imam Iqbal’s story. “Yes, this is my first time in the filming industry. Before this, I was featured in a few music videos and also I also was into modelling. I joined this filming industry because I was interested in acting.”

Being a business student of MSU (Management & Science University), Azim wanted to pursue his dreams and passion for acting. “I’m doing my internship at a production company. I wanted to correlate my passion and profession together. So, that is why I wanted to study business and succeed in the entertainment industry,”.

We could see the amount of happiness and the excitement in the cast and crew’s eyes. As the first day of the shoot was over, ‘Formula Cinta’ is starting to give all of us the excitement and the thrill on what is going to happen next!!

As for the second day of the filming, the casts were preparing themselves and rehearsing their lines for the shoot while the crew was focusing on the arrangement of the set.

The minute everything was set, the cast and crew coordinated themselves and the filming was started without further a due. As the filming was situated at Block G, the crew had to choose a proper spot so that it would not interrupt the flow of the filming and also it would not give the students much difficulty to go to their classes.

Talking about the shooting for the day, the director, Mr Mohan took the time to train and coach the casts, telling them how to show expressions for a particular scene and how to deliver certain dialogues.

With the help of the director and also the production team, the casts managed to get into the mood. As for the fun moments, which was actually for the students of UCSI University as they were excited about the filming works going on.

As they witnessed the filming, they took their mobile phones and took videos and pictures of some of the scenes that took place. This portrays their excitement for the filming.

The best part of the Day-2 shoot was the filming conducted at the sky lounge situated at the 12th floor of Block G. This sky lounge is well known for its peaceful and romantic view that will make the singles to fall in love just like the saying goes, “Love is in the air”.

Not only for couples but this place has also witnessed the bonding of friendships and also events like birthday parties. The ‘Formula Cinta’ cast and crew thought of having the shoot here at night which was one of the best decisions they’ve been making.

As they stood in awe, the place boasted with its glittering lights which added more attitude to the scene. In addition to the glittering lights, the whole fascinating view of KL city could be seen from the sky lounge.

With this , we strongly know that if the Anticipator of Sidon (a Greek poet who compiled all the seven wonders in the world) had got the chance to know about the beauty and the magic created by the sky lounge at the 12th floor of Block G, he would definitely add this place as one of the seven wonders of the world.

As for the third and also the last day of filming at UCSI University, the cast and crew gathered in front of Block C. For that particular day, the equipment used was different because they were bigger in size than the usual ones. Not only in front of Block G, but the shooting was at one of the classes too.

Although the shooting was done with bigger equipment, the cast and crew were fast enough to prepare all the arrangements before the filming. Even after the filming was over, Mr.Mohan (director) and the cast and crew of ‘Formula Cinta’ had the courtesy to thank the UCSI University for giving them the freedom and making all the arrangements for the shoot for those three days.

The key value learnt for those three days correlates with a quote believed by many which are ‘Have courage & be kind’.

To explain this, the cast and crew of ‘Formula Cinta’ should be considered as an example. They portrayed kindness by understanding each others’ strengths and weaknesses and worked on improving them.

They portrayed courage in wholeheartedly started and ended the shoot of ‘Formula Cinta’ in order to pursue their dreams in this entertainment industry.
