UCSI’S HARI RAYA OPEN HOUSE 2019

We all know that a general open house will be about eating and chit-chatting, but UCSI’s version of having an open house was totally different.

Starting with the registration rituals, we managed to witness many astonishing sights such as the crowd that arrived was filled with a welcoming aura and they made us feel comfortable welcoming them. As the saying goes, “the first impression is the best impression”. As our first impression was the kick start of the event, we were already convinced that the event was going to be a success.

This year, not only the staff of UCSI were invited but also people working for high reputed companies were invited as well. Even the principals of certain secondary schools were also invited.

The grand ballroom was decorated in such a way that when the guests took a step into the ballroom, they definitely felt celebrated and also not forgetting the aroma of the food just explained it all. The guests were welcomed with Hari Raya hits in order to lead them into the mood. The guests experienced a twist in the line of the guests of honour . This year, we had policemen along with our board of directors. They started off with a cake cutting ceremony in order to officially start the ceremony.

Right after the cake cutting ceremony, the distinguished guests and the VIPs were asked to enjoy the scrumptious delicacies prepared specially for them by our very own chefs from the Faculty of Hospitality and Tourism Management and the connoisseurs of Le Quadri Hotel.

There were performances by the Octaves Band. Hari Raya is celebrated all around the world in order to symbolize the power of forgiving and spreading the love which drives us to world peace. This statement is related to the performances because of the songs they chose to perform. The vibes created during their performance really defined the actual meaning of Hari Raya.

Not forgetting the video contest organised by the UCSI University, the faculties interested were assigned to shoot a Hari Raya video . The guests present to the ceremony were asked to vote for the video of their choice by scanning the QR code placed on their respective tables.

Speaking about the clothes, it shows the power of Malaysian culture. Our traditions and cultures can never be replaced by any other because we stay united and also instill the ‘divided we fall, united we stand tall’ mindset to the people around us. To prove this, many of the foreign staffs came in Malaysian traditional costumes like punjabi suit and jippa. This shows that they tend to love and manage to adapt to our cultures. The grand ballroom was so colourful with different cultures, different colours of costumes and different types of people.

In order to instill the love and affection towards our Malaysian culture, The Best Dress Award was given to the guests who took the effort to dress up.

An unknown guest made a statement saying that the crowd has doubled in number compared to last year. Supporting that, the number of guests has proved the publicity and the amount of popularity UCSI is getting from the community. UCSI has always caught the hearts of the people not only by having a good record in academics, but in terms of treating its guests in a good manner too. To prove that, the organizing committee could see the amount of happiness on the faces of the guests. Speaking about treating the guests, UCSI thought of a totally different concept in terms of the door gift for each guest. The guests were required to wave their tokens to the person-in-charge and they will be given the liberty to choose their own plant. The guests seemed so satisfied as they got to choose their door gifts by themselves.
