Staycation: Make life instagrammable

Have you been on any staycation in Malaysia during holidays? I think if you have, it would be 3 years before. It has been 3 years since March 2020, our country has been locked down due to the Covid-19 pandemic. It seems to be better in the year 2022 and everything starts to return back to its original track. During this pandemic, we are not allowed to travel oversea however staycation in Malaysia is one of the choices.

This is a throwback to the days with my housemates had an experience of staycation after the final examinations of general courses. To me, this is a first-time experience staycation with housemates in Kuala Lumpur. I did go for staycations before however, I went with my family. It has become a memorable moment with my housemates who only recognized each other for 5 months.

One of my housemates that owned a car drove us there. She was the last person in our hostel to finish her final examination, excluded me because I am from a special course which was having my final examinations when every one of them started their new semester.

We went for a staycation at Subang Jaya near Da Men Mall. Early in the morning, we went to Batu Cave to complete our mission of reaching the top of the Batu Cave which has a 272 steps staircase. To be honest, 3 of us, myself and two of my housemates, we have very bad stamina and we felt difficult in reaching to the top of the cave. However, we had the determination to hit this goal as we were planning to have seafood on the next day.

After the trip to Batu Cave, it was almost near lunch hour and we had our lunch in Kepong and check in to our Airbnb at 3 pm. The Airbnb is a room with 2 queen size beds and 5 of us shared the 2 beds at night. The price is quite reasonable, which only cost RM160 for the room per night. The bathroom is provided in the room as well.

We chose Airbnb with a sky pool so that we were able to take instagrammable photos with the beautiful scenery. It was a funny situation where only one of us know how to swim but 5 of us were excited to enjoy swimming. Although we don’t know swim, we enjoy playing water in the pool. It is the most effective exercise for calories burning even we just only walking and playing in the pool.

After swimming, we had our dinner at Da Men Mall. We ate fried chicken as dinner because we just burned our calories in the pool so we felt unguilty to have this heavy and oily dinner. After that, we went for karaoke and enjoyed singing karaoke with student price. However, one of my housemates who is a health-conscious person decided to go to the gym room for exercising.

I was spending the whole day playing with my housemates. Therefore, I had to burn the midnight oil to complete my assignments because these were not holidays for me as an architecture student. Although it was tiring for me to complete my assignments at late night, I felt worthy to have this chance to have a short trip with my housemates.

The next morning, we initially planned to enjoy the beautiful scenery of sunrise. However, we overslept and missed the sunrise. We cleaned up ourselves at 10 am and check out although it had not reached the time for checking out. After having Bak Kuk The at Klang as our brunch, we shopped at AEON near the area we had brunch. We shopped until 2 pm and departed to the next destination which is the place to have seafood. The seafood restaurant opened at 4:30 pm and we were the first customer. This restaurant was crowded soon after we just made our order. This is considered our early dinner because we ate at around 5 pm. We departed back to our hostel after done eating. We took 1 and a half hours to reach as the period was a bit jamming.

This is a wonderful staycation trip for me as a first-time travel with my housemates. It makes my hostel life meaningful and joyful.
