A Day at the mall when class gets canceled

My friends and I decided to go to McDonald’s for brunch last Friday after our class ended at around 11 a.m. We placed our food order when we got there and started talking about our studies while we were eating. One of my friends said he’ll be going to the mall to buy the comics after brunch since he doesn’t have class in the afternoon. We were all so tempted to follow him to the mall, but we have class at 2:30 p.m., so we can’t. Our lecturer abruptly informed us that the class would be canceled because she wasn’t feeling well as we were about to leave McDonald’s. We were overjoyed to be able to use the MRT to travel to the MyTown Shopping Centre since it is free for everyone for one month. We took the T410 bus from UCSI University, which dropped us off at MRT Taman Connaught. From there, we got down at the Cochrane MRT station and walked inside the mall as it is connected to the MRT station.

We chose to visit BookXcess first at the mall because my friend wanted to purchase comic books. If you’re a fellow book lover, you’ll be thrilled to hear this news because the recently opened BookXcess store is undoubtedly the trendy bookstore in Kuala Lumpur. Towering shelves built on stone walkways can be found in the newest BookXcess location at MyTown Shopping Centre, which is equally stunning. It is the point where architecture and narrative come together. This store’s miscellaneous section includes a co-working area, a secret Papu Art Gallery, a Japanese restaurant, a coffee bar, and more, in addition to its lovely interior design. This will be a fantastic place for bookworms to spend their days because there are so many sections all under one roof. Additionally, a cleverly constructed two-level piazza invites customers to relax and take a break while admiring the breathtaking view of the city skyline. In addition to a piano for music lovers, there are colorful sculptures scattered across the top of the bookshelves and art installations that imitate the architecture of traditional Malay homes in a separate corner. While looking through books or admiring the overall design of the store, there are many Instagram-worthy spots throughout the entire bookstore. The Papu Art Gallery, a hidden gem among the books in a specially constructed passageway, is another intriguing feature of this BookXcess location. It supports local artists by promoting Malaysian artwork. The walls are covered with various paintings for sale, each tagged with the name of the artist and a price (ranging from RM200 to RM5,000). If you’re not a big reader, this might be your best chance to embark on a venture and have an unforgettable experience. You’ll be sure to pick up one or two before leaving this one-of-a-kind area.

We chose to visit IKEA since it is connected to the mall and is the largest IKEA outlet in Malaysia after spending some time at BookXcess. Since the majority of it is furniture and household goods, we didn’t buy anything. To preserve the memory, we only took photos at IKEA. We also purchased ice cream from the IKEA bistro. Additionally, there is an IKEA restaurant and a café. The Swedish Food Market sells a variety of packaged foods under the IKEA brand, including chocolate, crisps, and biscuits. IKEA’s hot food counter is a bit away, on the other side of the cashier. Wait in line to get cheap ice cream, hot dogs, and curry puffs here. Using the self-serve ice cream vending machines that are typically found along the walls can save you a tonne of time if you’re just buying ice cream.

In addition, there are lots of seating areas with phone charging ports so that worn-out customers can relax and recharge before continuing their shopping spree. To keep their children from getting too bored while their parent’s shop, parents of young children can also find a number of small play areas set up at various levels. A beautifully landscaped park with ramps and tracks for skateboarding and rollerblading is located outside the mall. Numerous occasions, such as festivals, road shows, and celebrations, are held here every year. The Mytown Shopping Mall is a destination for the whole family because there is so much happening there every day besides just shopping! Moreover, I suggest UCSI University students take advantage of the free MRT/LRT and other public transportation until July 16, 2022, to visit malls with family and friends.

Blessed with this view.
