The End of My Foundation Year
I enrolled at UCSI University in July 2021. Time flies, I finished my foundation programme with my last biology paper on 8 April 2022. Since I am taking the express class, I can finish my course in 9 months. Definitely, at the moment I passed up the last exam paper, I finally felt released. As planned, my friends and I gathered outside the exam hall. After everyone was there, we moved our steps to have lunch. It was not a simple lunch after the exam, but also a farewell party for one of my friends as she would transfer to another university after this. We enjoyed our last sweet time and celebrated the coming of sembreak. Lastly, we prepared a special gift for our friend and wish her all the best in the future. Although everyone was happy, we knew that it might be the last time that all of us could gather together.
After that, some of my friends already left to catch their flights back to their hometowns. However, the celebration could not be stopped here! We planned to have dinner at the sky lounge on the top floor of Block G UCSI University. All of us were excited, as it was our first time. We were very looking forward to enjoy the city view up there. Undisputed, the night view is amazing. Even the weather and wind were sweet to us. We had picked an outdoor table. While chatting happily, suddenly I felt the rain drop on my shoulder…Within seconds, it rained heavily. We quickly moved our food and belongings to the bar table. However, the rain still splashes on us. All of us were in such an embarrassing situation but we were happy to experience this special moment together.
It was never enough for celebration! After the rain, it was already around 10 pm. An idea just suddenly popped from my mind, we might have a movie night and all of my friends agreed with my suggestion. Therefore, we quickly went to the EkoCheras Mall. We were totally having no plans at all. We even did not know what movie was going to watch. Fortunately, the slot and seat for “Morbius” was available. I would say this was my best decision to watch a movie at late night. The whole cinema had no other people. Actually, this was my first time going to the cinema after 2 years of MCO. Around 1 am, we finally came out from the cinema. The whole mall was so quiet and there was no other staying anymore. We spent almost 30 minutes to find the gate as most of them were locked and blocked. It was really a horrible experience for us.
Finally, it is the full stop of my foundation year. I will say that I am really glad that I choose to enrol at UCSI University and met my beloved friends. Throughout the 9 months, almost have of the time, we were having online classes and had no chance to meet each other. Friendship is the biggest gain throughout the year for me. Before this, I was afraid of jumping out of my comfort zone. Since I just decided to enrol with the special intake last minute, I had missed my orientation. I felt so lost and stressed. During that time, I knew I need to be strong as I could not disappoint my parents. I think I was so lucky as I had met friends who are willing to help me come through the tough time. However, all good things come to an end. After this foundation programme, some of us might not continue studying at UCSI, choosing different courses, or having different intake times. Nevertheless, I believe that the time we were together will be a wonderful memory for all of us.
